Checklist to Quick Clean Your House In Under 2 Hours!
Be sure to grab your Checklist to Quick Clean Your House in 2 Hours Below!
How do you clean house 2 hours or less? That might sound impossible, but with the right strategy, it’s totally doable! The key (and my signature method of cleaning)? Task cleaning first, then zone cleaning. Let’s break it down step by step so you can maximize efficiency and get that satisfying clean-home feeling without spending your entire day scrubbing.

Gather all your cleaning supplies in one tote, have your mop bucket and mop ready to go, make sure your vacuum dirt container is dumped out to make room for all the dirt you’re gonna get to! If you have a robot vacuum, start it now. I would still vacuum your high traffic areas manually just because the robot vacuums lack the suction needed to really get the high traffic areas super clean.
Speed Cleaning Tip: Stay focused on each task and item as you go through the checklist. Don’t deviate from the list. For instance, now is not the time to go through all the papers that have piled up in the corner on your kitchen counter. Now is the time to move those papers to your Inbox or quick clean box to be sorted through at a later point. Pretend you’re a hired cleaning service and clean they way they would, not going through your clutter, but stacking it neatly in one area for you to go through later. Get the clutter out of the way and just stick to cleaning for this session.
If you really want to clean your house in 2 hours, your gonna need some motivation! Put on some lively music or an engaging podcast (you can even find one about cleaning!), grab your water bottle and let’s get going!

Task Cleaning (First 40-45 Minutes)
I like to start with task cleaning to save time. Task cleaning is all about focusing on one task at a time—whether it’s clearing all the ceiling fans or mopping the entire house. This approach not only makes cleaning feel less overwhelming but also allows you to see progress quickly, keeping you motivated.
Involve the kids if you can by giving them each a task, such as dusting all the lamps or ceiling fans or stripping all the beds to wash the bedding. Plus, involving the kids in simple tasks can turn cleaning into a fun family activity, teaching them the importance of maintaining a clean home and helping out.
Strip Beds and Start Laundry (10 minutes): Grab all the bedding in the house. Toss it all in the washer (or as much as will fit in one go) and get it going. Doesn’t everybody love the feel (and smell) of clean sheets?!
Dust Ceiling Fans and Light Fixtures (10 minutes): Using a long-handled duster, swipe all ceiling fans and light fixtures. While you’re up there, take a quick pass through the upper corners of each room to clear cobwebs.

Use the Quick Clean Tote (5 minutes): Grab your quick clean tote and use it to quickly clean up any clutter or homeless items throughout the house. Toss in anything that doesn’t belong out and set it aside to go through later.
Dusting Throughout the House (15 minutes):
Now that the high-up dust is taken care of and you’ve cleaned up clutter and homeless items with your quick clean tote, grab a microfiber cloth and dust all surfaces. Move quickly—this is speed cleaning, not deep cleaning! Hit the furniture, shelves, and decor, but skip the detailed dusting like blinds.
Dry and Switch Laundry (5 minutes):
Move the sheets to the dryer and toss in the next load (towels or additional bedding). Keep that laundry moving!
Zone Cleaning (Last Hour and 15 Minutes)
Since you’ve already picked up clutter and dusted the whole house, zone cleaning should be pretty quick! Focus on straightening things up, getting things off the floor and flat surfaces, putting away clothing and shoes.
Living Areas (15 minutes total):

- Straighten up anything out of place, throw out old magazines.
- Vacuum fabric furniture and fluff pillows.
- If you have pets, give their beds a quick vacuum, or shake outside, and then wash them.
- Clear off the dining table if you haven’t already and straighten up dining area.
- Vacuum. Don’t worry about every corner or under the furniture while speed cleaning.
Bedrooms (10 minutes total):
- Straighten up anything out of place.
- Put away clothing and shoes.
- Put dirty clothes in the hamper.
- Remake the bed.
- Vacuum
Kitchen (15 minutes total):
- Wipe down the outside of appliances, focusing on fingerprints and smudges.
- Clear the counters—put away the stuff that always seems to accumulate!
- Wipe down counters and backsplash with an all-purpose cleaner.
- Load the dishwasher and run it if it’s full. Hand wash any extra dishes. Dry them and put them away right away.
- Quickly wipe cabinet fronts, especially around handles where grime builds up.
- Mop the floors to complete the kitchen. I like this spin mop because it keeps the dirty water seperate from the clean water used to mop with! It’s a brilliant design and allows you to always be using clean water on your floors. I bought this exact one at Walmart if you need it now!

Bathrooms (20 minutes total):
- Clean mirrors for that instant sparkle effect.
- Wipe down counters and sinks.
- Scrub out the tub (or make a mental note to clean your shower/tub the next time you shower)—just use a scrubby sponge and some Castile soap, no harsh chemicals needed!
- Scrub the toilet, paying special attention to under the rim where grime hides….and sadly, even thrives!
- Wipe the outside of the toilet and clean the seal around the toilet (trust me, it’s worth it!).
- Mop the floor for a final touch.
Final Touches (10 Minutes)
- Light a candle or open a window for some fresh air.
- Put out clean kitchen towels and bathroom towels
